3 Easy Gourmet Sandwiches with Homemade Baguette!

  • The Inspiration: I always want to make my own bread at home and bake fresh daily just like the old days. Especially this easy 5-Ingredient Zero-Knead Baguette. Then once I have good bread, I just want to make a good sandwich right away.
  • Who it’s for: This is for the “Elevated Luncher.” Whether you are hosting a garden party, packing a sophisticated office lunch, or just treating yourself to a weekend “Picnic at Home,” these three variations ensure you never get “sandwich boredom” again.
  • Troubleshooting: If your baguette is a day old and feels a bit too firm, give it a 3-minute “refresh” in a 350°F (175°C) oven before slicing. This brings back the “shatter” to the crust and softens the crumb perfectly for these sandwiches.
  • The Pesto Twist: If you are out of pine nuts, swap them for toasted walnuts or sunflower seeds in your homemade pesto. It adds a deeper, earthier note that pairs beautifully with the Turkey Breast.
  • Dairy-Free Creaminess: Replace the Burrata with a thick layer of Hummus or extra Avocado mashed with a squeeze of lemon and sea salt.
  • Protein Swaps: The Tuna Salad base is incredibly versatile—you can use the exact same celery/onion/yogurt mixture with shredded rotisserie chicken for a “Classic Chicken Salad” baguette.
  • The “Spice” Kick: Add a few pickled jalapeños or a dash of hot honey to the Prosciutto sandwich to cut through the richness of the cheese.
  • The Party Presentation: If serving these for a crowd, slice the loaded baguettes into 2-inch “crostini-style” rounds and secure them with a bamboo pick. It turns a hearty sandwich into an elegant appetizer.
  • Pairing: These sandwiches love a “vibrant” partner. Serve them with a side of Crispy Eggplant Fries or a simple Lemon-Parmesan Salad. For a drink, a chilled Rosé or a Sparkling Apple Cider complements the fresh herbs and salty meats perfectly.
  • Storage: While these are best enjoyed fresh, the Tuna Salad can be made 48 hours in advance. For the best “on-the-go” experience, wrap the assembled sandwiches tightly in parchment paper; it helps hold the layers together and keeps the crust from drying out.
