Turn on the stove, In the pot, add the first 5 cups of water, and add Bouillon Powder.
I'm adding the garlic, ginger, celery, and cilantro (whole) and we will remove them after they have flavored the soup.
Add Black pepper, White pepper , Sugar, Stir until the soup starting to boil and all ingredients mix well without lumps.
Gradually add the rest of the water until you reach a total of 10 cups of liquid for the 1 cup of cornmeal
Add Soy Sauce , Sesame Oil , stir constantly because the cornmeal can stick to the bottom of the pot very easily
Shape the ground sausage into small meatballs and put them in the pot.
The consistency can be adjusted to your liking
Add Corn or substitute with your choice of vegetables.
Now, close the lid and cook it on low heat for about 30 minutes.
You can eat it as soon as the sausage is cooked, but the longer it simmers, the better the flavor.
During the soup's simmering time, we will make garlic chips for topping, this is optional.
Add the chopped garlic to the olive oil and cook on low heat until golden brown, and it's done. You can save it in the fridge for over a month for cooking or any topping.
Don't forget to stir the soup often. Try to scrape the bottom of the pot to make sure nothing sticks.
We will use the same pan that we cooked garlic and make sautéed spinach for another soup topping.
Make sure to wipe out the remaining garlic chips and oil first, or they will burn.
Stove on, add chopped garlic and olive oil in the pan, add Red Chili Flakes (Optional), Salt, 0.5 lb of Spinach, cover and cook on low for 1 minute.
Stir well, ensuring the garlic doesn't burn on the bottom of the pan.
Add Sumac (Optional)it adds a bright, tangy flavor that balances the richness of the soup
Cook for 30 seconds. Do not overcook. So Spinach topping is ready!
After 30 minutes of simmering, the soup is ready to enjoy.
Now, we are going to fish out the big chunk of celery stalk, the big pieces of ginger and garlic. They've done their job flavoring the broth.
but you can totally skip this step—they're completely edible!
Then add Milk (dairy/non-dairy), this is Optional! This adds a little sweetness and makes the soup really creamy, which helps bring all the flavors together. Sometimes we skip it, depending on my mood—it's delicious either way!
Then let the soup simmer for another minute, and this incredible soup is ready to enjoy
